"I read Dark Force and found it to be one of the most disturbing and captivating stories I have ever read. Through it all, Bill Bean stands tall in faith. Dark Force is a must read book!"

"Coast to Coast AM deals with many topics. Some are more gripping and captivating than others. I'm usually not frightened or bothered by the show content. However, I do have to say that Dark Force was different. Bill Bean's writing made me feel like I was right there experiencing the horror that both he and his family had experienced. As I was pre-interviewing Bill for the show, there were several incidents that happened which seemed like some sort of force was messing with our communication. I am not sure what it was, and where it came from, but it was very disturbing. I highly recommend Dark Force!

I am not one who reads. I have very little time with a teenage son and the hours I work. I was approached by Mr. Bean and asked to review the book. I read the book in 2 days. I was left speechless, stunned and heart broken for the Bean family and the tragedy they survived. This story is very easy to read and well told. It summarizes the events that took place in a small house in Maryland with one families battle with four evil entities. Their story will make you believe that pure evil does exist and it did in that small Maryland home. Only their strength in one another, their faith and their mothers determination kept the family from being completely destroyed. This is one families sad story of a decade of horror and tragedy that will leave you speechless and shocked. This is a book that you must purchase because there is a very powerful message in the book to learn from. That message is one of tragedy being over come by one man and his siblings final triumph through faith and belief in God. Pick up a copy today and do not read this book alone in the dark!

"Dark Force" transcends the normal Haunted house story and brings you in the perspective of true events through the firsthand accounts from the author.

The Bean family, your typical nuclear family living in 1970 America; fulfill the American Dream by buying a home in the suburban town of Glen Burnie, Maryland. Bill Bean Sr. is proud of this home, and has aspirations to make it his own. Something else had its own plans for the family.

His wife Patricia starts to experience strange feelings, and daughter Patti knows something is wrong with this house. Soon, what started as noises in the attic become physical attacks on family members, Patricia, Patti, and young Billy Jr. Even the dogs are not spared. The Bean family soon becomes oppressed by the emotional and physical attacks and they begin to break. Something sinister lurks in what was the perfect home. That something wants them dead.

"Dark Force" follows the story of the Bean Family tragedy, through the despair and eventual triumph over evil. However, every victory has a price. The Bean family pays heavily.

William Bean crafts an outstanding story, very descriptive and so emotional that he will have you glued from Introduction to ending. Never have I read a book that is so disturbing in such a way that makes you almost afraid to turn the next page. In the End, what it really shows is that by having faith in God, you can make it through the toughest times and ready to face your worst of fears.

"Dark Force" is a must for anyone with an interest in the paranormal, a religious reader, or someone who just enjoys a good book. Its vast appeal makes it a must have for any collection. You must READ THIS BOOK.

Book Review: Dark Force by Bill Bean

The Terrifying And Tragic Story Of The Bean Family

Dark Force is the story of one family’s experience living in a house shared by some very dark forces. For a period of 10 years Bill, his brother and sister, and parents resided in a small three bedroom house in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Likely built in the 1940s the Bean family purchased it in 1970. From the outside it was a perfectly normal dwelling, a house like any other in the area.

Almost immediately after the family moved in strange things started to occur. It started off with noises late at night, tapping on the walls, the sound of footsteps in the attic, and doors opening and closing on their own. This however was only the beginning of a decade of terror for the family as the incidents grew more and more menacing.

This was no playful ghost out for tricks and pranks. This was some very dark force out for the kill.

Bill Bean’s story is indeed a strange one and it is clear that the decade that the family lived in this house had a profound effect on them. His father started the decade as a caring and loving provider, and ended it as a bitter and anguished alcoholic estranged from the family. Bill’s mother went from a fit young lady full of joy and life, to a tormented soul with physical health problems, and finally death.

Bill’s sister unable to cope with both the entities in the house and the deteriorating family dynamics ran away from home at age 16 to get married. It was her ticket to freedom. Interestingly the Bean’s extended family also suffered strange and unfortunate events in their lives. It is almost as if the entire Bean family was under some curse.

The paranormal is a contentious subject, there are believers and disbelievers, and both sides are adamant in their views on the subject. My view is not relevant, but I will share it anyway. I sit on the fence. I have had no personal dealings with it, but to deny its existence would be akin to saying there is no such thing as winning the lottery, because I have never won! Our understanding of our world grows in leaps and bounds every day, but we have by no means mapped everything there is to map.

Even if you are a detractor I can still recommend Dark Force. It is a fascinating study into family dynamics while under stress. Bill’s father found escape through alcohol, Bill’s sister through marriage. Bill’s mother had opportunities to escape, yet chose not to. I have given this aspect much thought, and it certainly is a question that I will be asking Bill Bean when I next speak with him. I see several explanations, she wanted her freedom, and to accept the kindness of others would have made her beholden to them. Or maybe she felt that through dogged determination she could win the battle.

It does not matter how you slice and dice it Dark Force is a very disturbing book. Bill Bean concludes the book with a section about the family members and their status. I found this the most disturbing section of all. His parents Patricia and William both dead, Patricia from her various health issues, William Bean from gunshot wounds in 1987. His siblings Patti and Bobbi are thankfully both alive and leading normal lives and trying to put the past behind them.

Bill Bean amongst this chaotic backdrop, that was his life, also found religion. His teen years were spent in turmoil, yet it was his strong beliefs that saw him through the travails.  Rating 5.0 out of 5 stars

Every now and then a book comes along that you
just can’t put down.  Bill Bean’s (William J. Bean, Jr.)
Dark Force
book is one of them.  After I finished the
last page, I read his harrowing experiences from start
to finish again.

It is painfully unimaginable what his mother, Patricia Bean, went through during her struggles with demonic forces, her health issues and supernatural attacks on her husband, William Bean, that pushed the family to the brink.  During the years from 1970 to 1980, Bill’s family became
splintered with his father driven away and his sister leaving at the age of 16 by finding an exit from the terror she endured at their house.  This left only his mother, his younger brother and himself to endure the physical and
mental attacks the entities had in store for them.

Many of you have probably seen Bill’s story on Discovery’s
A Haunting
.   His story segment is called “House of the Dead.”  I can’t emphasize enough for one to read his written story as compared to the one on A Haunting.

Dark Force is not a lengthy drawn-out story.  It is rather a straight-in-your-face recollection of his youth being torn apart by demons and what he and his family encountered.  This isn’t a story such as The Amityville Horror where there is only the family and a local parish priest to verify the story; rather those from his extended family to friends verified what had happened
in his childhood home outside of Baltimore, MD.

Through the power of faith in God his Uncle Cliff bestowed upon him, he gained the strength to face the evil at a time when he was just entering his teenage years.  Bill Bean shows his God-fearing strength to call upon the
demons and fight them face-to-face.

I have read numerous true-life and fiction stories with the subject being of the paranormal, but not since reading Jay Anson’s
The Amityville Horror
book or seeing Steven Spielberg’s Poltergeist
at the movie theater, has a
story stayed in my mind - hour after hour and day after day.

DARK FORCE Review by Mr. John de Sarem

It was my wife - a very discerning and selective reader, so "committed to the truth" that novels are not on her list of "must- reads" - who having read the book by Bill Bean which has just been released said emphatically to me "

This is a must- read, I was unable to put it down." A few days later, to my own great surprise, as my own "reading-interests" are even more restrictive than my wife’s , I found myself, as I began to glance through and then begin to seriously read the book, even more engaged by the amazing story that was unfolding. It tells of the extraordinarily vivid, unfortunately violent and unwelcome autobiographical experiences, of a young boy (Bill Bean) in a home in the vicinity of Baltimore in the nineteen-seventies; and, most intriguingly, of his experiences of a realm that lies beyond the living.

As we know, the eternal human uncertainty is whether after the decease of our "physical selves", there lies "nothingness" or a continuity in some form, in "after-lives", of some aspects of our selves. A subject since the very beginnings of recorded human history appears to have preoccupied the human race, and lies , of course, at the heart of its great religions. And here is Bill Bean who tells us of his experiences of such "after-life" in startingly first-hand vividly descriptive terms.

Of course, the essential preconditions for anyone who makes so bold as to tell us of an "after-life experience" and to be regarded with seriousness, are total honesty and total truthfulness. Yet these are preconditions that Bill Bean, who I know to be one of those few, one of those very few, individuals who cannot but speak the truth - obviously fulfils.

And it is the telling of his experiences as a child and through the eyes of a child comes a direct and simple and compelling clarity. To turn to other aspects, I found the manner and flow of Bill Bean’s direct and seemingly simple and unentangled, almost at times Hemingwayesque, prose refreshing - inundated as we are with so much of what passes for good writing these days. And amidst his busy schedule, I hope that Bill Bean will find the time to continue his writings perhaps of semi-autobiographical short stories of the various stages of his life and thus to make contribution to the record of the ups and downs of life of an American family in his time. As a final note, I should add that I had noticed, on the few occasions I had the pleasure of meeting Bill Bean, that he is one of those blessed with a remarkably clear, strong and mellow, and well-articulating, "speaking-voice"; and nd it seemed to me that if he could be persuaded to give radio-listeners some " readings" from his book, I for one would find it very pleasantly absorbing at the end of a day.   5.0 out of 5 stars

I finished reading 'Dark Force', a wonderful book by my friend Bill Bean. I normally take my time when reading a book, especially one that I've been wanting to read, but I couldn't put it down. I finished it late last night. It was great!

Without giving too much away, the book details the life of Bill Bean and his family from 1970 to 1980. It was during these ten years that the home they lived in served as the dwelling place for several evil entities (spirits or ghosts). These spirits tormented the Bean family, nearly destroying it altogether.

By the Grace of God, Bill survived this ordeal and has chosen to tell his story. In addition to the book, he has appeared on the Discovery Channel and numerous radio programs sharing his story.

I can't stress to you how much I enjoyed this book. I'm planning to read it again soon. You can order it directly from Bill on his website
www.billbean.net. Order it today. I promise you'll be glad you did. :)

Spiritual warfare is very real. If you never believed in hauntings, ghosts, or demons before reading the book, you will believe in them afterwards.

This review is from: Dark Force - The Terrifying and Tragic Story of the Bean Family
I was unable to put Dark Force down until I had finished it. The story is chilling and vividly describes the Bean family's battle with malevolent demonic forces in their home. I greatly admire William J. Bean's courage and strength and how he relied upon the power of prayer to help him through the nightmare he and his family endured for so many years. He is a shining example of how a person's faith in God and Jesus Christ can see them through anything. I could totally relate to the horrific events in this story because I have also been a victim of very frightening and negative paranormal phenomena at times during my life, although not nearly to the extreme degree that the Bean family suffered. My faith in God, daily prayers, and a special blessing upon my house are the only things that helped me to endure these terrifying occurrences. Thankfully, the frightening phenomena soon ceased after the blessing over my house. I have not had a frightening experience for a long time now. I know without a doubt that demons are real spirit entities who are bent on the destruction of mankind. Having a strong faith in God and Jesus Christ is the only way that a person can protect themselves and find peace. The house that the Bean family moved into has a very dark history, and I suspect that this may be the reason it was demonically infested before the family moved in. This story is terrifying, and yet it is also very inspirational because it shows how courage and faith in God and Jesus Christ can triumph over evil. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in reading stories about the paranormal.

This review is from: Dark Force - The Terrifying and Tragic Story of the Bean Family (Paperback)
"Dark Force" captures the reader into the terror filled lives of a family destroyed by the intent of a malevolent and destructive ring of spiritual entities. This family was that of the Author, Bill Bean. Bill puts into words only what some of us would consider having been our worst nightmare and yet through his faith in GOD he "survives". Bill shares with us his most personal moments of fear as a young child to his adulthood where he devotes his life in helping others by sharing how he overcame such powerful evil. "Dark Force" is a must read to believe how the paranormal can come full circle within your life and you can become that survivor. "Dark Force" is so compelling one can not put the book down until it has been completed therefore reliving the life of this family destined for conflict with evil.

Amazing, May 3, 2008
This review is from: Dark Force - The Terrifying and Tragic Story of the Bean Family (Paperback)
I met Bill at OmegaCon where I was lucky enough to receive a copy of his book from a member of the paranormal group I am the co-founder of. Once I began reading the book I couldn't put it down. I set out to read 2 chapters a night before bed and would end up reading 4 - 5.

This story puts you in the moment, you feel like you are a part of the family as they experience the activity. I must say this account is one of the most amazing stories and I hope this book can help others who may be going through something similar.

We recently had Bill on our show Southern Ohio Paranormal Radio and I must say this man is a very genuine person and his calling is true. Make sure you pick this book up, I promise you wont want to put it down.

I really enjoyed the book. I've read alot in my years and this is a straight forward, take me for what you will, downright shocking, dangerous experiences as retold by one of the few survivors that was closer to the entities chaos (with the exception of his beloved mother). Thank you again for letting me look at it early. I know it's a winner, hit the marketing hard and you'll be set, which you of course already know. Anyhow, I'm rambling but it's late. Talk to you soon Bill, and take care of yourself sir.

I have read this book and recommend it to anyone that loves true stories, but who may have been through supernatural experiences and don't really dare to talk about them. This is a true story. I felt like I was on the journey with them. I could feel what they were feeling. These types of accurences happen more than we know and more than people want to share, because it is hard to believe what some have not experienced. It is a wonderful book I would give this book 100 stars.

I really enjoyed the book. It was terrifying and yet your story was so detailed, that you couldn't put it down. I really walked away feeling bad for your mom and family and what you had to endure. I would give your book 5 stars and look forward to your next book. Thank you. God Bless you and your family.

Mr. Bean, I was excited about attending your book signing in December of 2007 because I was told you were a very interesting lecturer and had experienced many paranormal events. I was even more excited to receive a copy of your book, DARK FORCE and to speak with you about your past. I returned home that night and began reading your book. Actually I read your book out loud to my wife who was doing paper work. We were both totally fascinated with the experiences you and your family had to endure. I finished reading your book in a matter of hours and continued to discuss your book for several more hours. Your writing style is clear and concise, yet places the reader in the actual events that are happening. We experienced emotions ranging from laughter to tears, curiosity to fear. Obviously we can not wait until your next book becomes available. I would recommend reading your book to the most questioning skeptic or the most experienced paranormal investigator; both would find the story of your life hair-raising and yet very much addictive. God Bless.

I have known Bill Bean for almost two years now. When he came to our group meeting and spoke about his life story, it was a blessed encounter! I have never really spoken about my childhood and things that happened to me with anyone because of ridicule or people not believing me. But when Bill spoke, it brought all of my past back and at that moment I wasnt afraid to speak out. Bill has this presence about him that he reaches inside your soul and makes you feel comfortable with things that are just not talked about! He has got to be the most honest and caring person that I have ever met. I thought that I went through horrible times in my life. Not even! I have read Bill Bean's book! I read it in two days. Couldnt put it down! Bill did such a great job writing his life story. You can tell that he put his heart and soul into this book. Who better to write this amazing and fearful story than the "Experiencer" himself? Even though I knew of some of the things that happened to him, the book has so much more info, and I actually could imagine myself there with him and his poor family when they went through the torment that they did all of those years! I can't wait for the next book to come out. This is a must read! Scarey and unfortunately true! This had to be hard to write, but Bill did an excellent job! This book will do well with believers and nonbelievers! Bill, God Bless. You are helping alot of people!

Bill, I wanted to thank you again for sending me the advance copy of DARK FORCE via email while I waited for the one I ordered in the mail to arrive. The book was extremely addicting and I found it hard to put it down. While other obligations in my life forced me to set the book down, I found it always in the back of my mind wanting to return to it a soon as possible. I found myself engulfed in your story and you have done such an exceptional job in writing it , that it made me feel like I was actually there with you and your family-living the ordeal with you all. I have never met you or any of your family members, but through your writings, I feel like I have. You have endured hardships and stress that is inconceivable to me. Especially since I was raised in a normal environment or should I say a non-paranormal environment. Its amazing how we take the simplest things in life for granted. Your story is truly inspirational to anyone who will read it. You found your escape through God,sports and eventually a musical instrument which I can definately relate to. I admire your courage for coming forth with your true story especially in this day and age where skeptics are fast to judge and ridicule. I believe your story 100%. Your faith in God has made you come to terms with the paranormal and in dealing with it. Im sure the battle continues for you on a daily basis and I cant begin to imagine what it must be like. Im sure that your book will also help other people in similar situations, who may be afraid to come forward with their stories, for fear of skepticism, ridicule, revenge and what ever accusations people might unjustly hold. When your new book hits the stores, I will be the first person on line waiting to purchase it.!! Thanks for everything. A tragic but ultimately uplifting story, December 8, 2007
This review is from: Dark Force - The Terrifying and Tragic Story of the Bean Family (Paperback)
This book is absolutely compelling and interesting, and also frightening but ultimately uplifting. It is the story of the Bean family, an average, all-American family consisting of Bill Sr., Bill Jr., his younger brother Bobby, older sister Patti and mother Patricia who move into a home in Glen Burnie, Maryland, in 1970, and all were really put-upon by spirits, which Bill believes caused his father to abuse his mother. Bill Sr. became an alcoholic, and never believed in spirits occupying the home. The spirits were an "Undertaker" type with dark hair, black eyes, dark period clothing and a black hat; a red-haired man with a jagged scar on his face; an evil entity with no discernible features except red eyes and a woman spirit, which was almost angelic in her countenance and attitude. The small family, as well as members of the family such as Mom-Mom and Aunt Joyce, also experienced unusual happenings in the house. The hauntings went on for a decade until-well, I will let you read the book for yourself to see the rest of the details. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is a good fan of a good ghost story.
The book is a perfect example of what the power of positive thinking can do for a life which was shattered by nightly visits from malevolent spirits.
